Operation Med Spa
WITH JOHN WHEELER
If We Were Handed a Med Spa Tomorrow

Operation Med Spa brings on its first studio guest, Jessica, one of Alpha’s Directors of Operations, to talk through a simple but loaded question: what would they do if someone handed them the keys to a med spa tomorrow?

Rebekah, Janelle, and Jessica start with the existing-business scenario. Before changing anything, they would observe. That means watching the patient experience, meeting with employees individually, reviewing the P&L, studying business trends, walking the neighborhood, evaluating the physical space, and identifying the people, services, systems, and culture currently driving the practice.

They also talk about the danger of assuming that past experience automatically gives someone the right answer. A new owner or operator still has to earn trust, understand why things are being done a certain way, and bring the team along through change. Change management matters as much as strategy.

From there, the conversation moves into staffing, administrative efficiency, toxic team members, quick operational wins, vendor relationships, scheduling, missed calls, rebooking, service mix, devices, products, retail, CRM, marketing, and facility improvements. They also get into the question of rebranding and why changing a med spa name can be emotional, strategic, and deeply personal.

The episode closes with each person imagining their own brand-new med spa, from room count and staff structure to services, devices, hours, retail, and the owner’s role in doing whatever it takes to make the business work.
