Med Spa Marketing Group Chat
WITH JOHN WHEELER
When Everyone Sells the Same Services

Kevin, Andrea, and Mitch explore why strong med spa marketing cannot rely on services alone.

Most practices promote a similar menu: Botox, filler, lasers, skin treatments, body services, and before-and-afters. Those things matter, but they do not always explain why a patient chooses one practice over another. The real differentiator often comes from the people behind the brand.

Andrea explains how founder and provider stories can make the relationship feel personal before a patient ever books. A strong provider story creates familiarity, empathy, and trust. Mitch adds that patients often look for sameness. They want to see something of themselves in the person treating them, whether that is life stage, personality, family, interests, values, or the way someone shows up online.

The risk comes when too much marketing depends on one person. Founder and provider stories can be powerful, but a brand built too heavily around a single provider can create key person risk. If that provider leaves, part of the patient connection may leave with them.

That is why content strategy and paid ad strategy need to be treated differently. Capturing provider stories is valuable, but deciding which stories deserve ad dollars requires more care.

Patient stories, candid emotion, before-and-afters, and authentic moments all help create a fuller picture of the brand. A simple image of a provider and patient laughing can sometimes say more than a polished treatment photo, because it shows the relationship, not just the result.

The strongest marketing does not rely on one hero. It uses the founder story as an anchor, then builds a richer brand around providers, patients, team culture, outcomes, and the emotional reasons people choose a practice.
